Core Fusion – Awesome hosting!
So Core-Fusion, the host of my website is finally back =)
Damn thanksgiving celebrations. How the heck would I know when they start and end? mutters And what’s with the revolution around a flamin’ turkey? Heh. Just wanted to say that as an allusion to Fawkes. xD
But anyway, Woot. They’ve come up with a new layout =) and forum theme. o.O Now THAT’s what I’m rather impressed with since it IS made in IPB aka Invision boards and well… I’ve never been much of a fan of them.

Vote for meeee. Pleeeassee? makes mutated puppy dog eyes Okay, maybe not.
Oh yes, and juuust because, VOTE FOR MY SITE, PLEASE- VOTE
snicker
They just added a topsites listing. Nothing particularly interesting and all since all those pixeller websites have had topsites for eons, but shrug The topsites look really empty.

Learning? In the holidays? Baaah.. but it has some credit. =)
So a commenter mentioned before, learning during these insipidly dull holidays (that’s tautology combined with juxtaposition xD… blah. Suppose I am missing out on learning. Zomg…what’s there to do in three bloody months!?) Particularly scripting languages. Well, I’ve started on learning PHP and XML and Java and I might try my hand at AJAX. But I’ve never liked javascript since it had always been used so inappropriately with stupid popups and the like until gmail and its new functionality came.

So s’up now?
Read a brief guide on Ruby though nothing on the “on rails” section which would be the web aspect. Blah. It is rather interesting since something like puts and gets .chomp sound ever so funny. Buut.
C-F Doesn’t have ruby on rails. Oh the horror! Or maybe its because Hlfusion couldn’t install it. Aww. Bummers.

Insane? Nope, just deathly bored.
‘Fraid to say that I cannot last even two weeks into a three month holiday period. insert wailing here

I’m extremely extremely bored now. Been chattering crazily on msn. And I don’t like msn.

So anyway, what games, anime (which I’m avoiding..heh.), programs, and so forth, under 800mb do people suggest?

And don’t tell me flash games and youtube anime. >.< Seems that even with my download limit, I download more on school days. Pftt. Go figure.

And just because..
Here’s a little cloud doll “pixel” that I cheated on in the making xD
Took about 5 minutes. Still looks good though because it’s still cloud! xD

Utter dullness for 3 months? I need a project!!

Wednesday, November 22nd, 2006

School? I’m over it. Or rather, it’s over.
It has been 1 week and 5 days since school has been over…Permanently. Really is quite depressing to think about. Of course, with it comes plenty of boredom. Too much, almost. Finished the whole stack of sudoku puzzles I’ve collected.
Think my head hurts far too much now.

As of next Monday, I shall have signed out permanently from my school, and it will probably be the second last day that I’d ever visit the place again.

Sad smile.

Time to move forward in life.

Results from the University Admissions Centre arrive all the way next month. I don’t even know what I should perhaps start briefly studying for.

Even then? Depending on the university, the earliest date to start schooling is on the 12th of February next year. That would be Macquarie University. That would be far too long.

It pains me to say that I can’t get used to the holidays.

Last school holidays weren’t even holidays since I was at school the whole two weeks (well, Monday to Friday) studying for the HSC. But now it happens to be over. My life has nothing to revolve around.

I’m still trapped at home.

Oh sure, there’s schoolies, but that’s full of underage drunkards and the rest of that overrated junk. Not particularly interesting.

Have a rest? I’m rested enough. Too rested. Anymore and I’ll start becoming a vegetable.

It is rather strange… I can just sit there, and stare of into space for hours on end now. Sometimes I’m so lazy that I can’t snap out of it.

But I’m on the computer too much and my art supplies have disappeared.

I so need a new past time.

Thing is, until the 4th of January, or even the 19/20th of December when I find out my UAI/HSC mark, I could start joining some of the university’s clubs and activities. (Particularly the anime club. I COULD watch anime right now but that is the same as vegetating. So, no thanks.) But right now? There is just such uncertainty.

Driving. Oh the horror.
I’ve started learning to drive even though I have had my Learner’s Permit since April.
Yes, that is a long time.
Yes, I should have acquired my 50 hours long ago by now.

But I haven’t.

How long have actually driven? 3 hours. In total. Seems like a long long way away.
That said, only started actually driving last weekend. And yet, I was hoping to get my Ps by the start of January.
But at this rate? I guess not.

It’s always driving on Saturdays and Sundays at 3pm.

Skipped out on going to the city with Elva and Tina. That said, heard it turned into double dates so I’m pretty glad that I didn’t go. Ellie was the only other person who was informed and she didn’t go either, and since it was a split second decision, no one else even heard of it.

So would being in the city for 2 hours though it would take almost 2 hours to travel back and forth be worth it? Naah.

To the commenters.
In Australia, summer holidays last 7 weeks at most, whilst in the northern hemisphere, there’s almost 3 month long holidays. Other than summer camps, which don’t particularly exist in Australia, what do you do in your holidays/vacation period?

Web 2.0 – Hmm.

Monday, November 20th, 2006

I have been wondering.. what IS the definition of web 2.0?

http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/a/oreilly/tim/news/2005/09/30/what-is-web-20.html and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_2 give examples, but really, what is it?

I suppose, one can look at Yahoo.

In 1996, when I first had the internet, it was a directory. And now?

They have developed their financial section, which is one of the most powerful on the net. They offer Yahoo 360, which is a central hub to put all kinds of information you use. You can view the news, the weather, or view music videos all online from this page. Yahoo wants to be the go-to place when it comes to enhancing a user’s experience online.

Or consider blogs. In the early days of the Internet, news was left to the newsmakers to report and interpret. Now, thanks to blogs, the newsmakers report and interpret the news and blogmakers regather and reinterpret the news.

I suppose you could say that even blogs are web 2.0 compliant. Perhaps not in layout, but the comments system allows input and exchange of information between people.
