Alright, so I’ve always been sick and tired of the notice and then the autoclose whenever I try installing something and they juuust require certain operating systems. Eg. Needing Windows XP Professional whereas I have Windows XP Home on one of my computers. and I like that computer. >_> Well..
Ignoring Operating system autoclose warnings, I’ve managed to make things work on Windows XP Home [or Windows 2000, etc. etc.] Unlike the time I tried to get Adobe Photoshop CS2 to work on my Windows 98 rig ages ago. [which isn't that long but hush]
I have found out how you can edit, rename, or whatever you want to call it, and that’s using an installshield/windows installer editor such as Qwerty msi, which is freeware, by the way.
Of course, there’s all these warnings and disclaimers that if you damage the program or your computer by installing it, it’s not my problem and I take no liability for it.
However, through sheer dumb [luck] editing the installshield file was a solution that finally worked when I tried to get the Tablet Recognizer pack to work. Mhm. Yay. So now I can go and write chinese characters and get it recognised [eventually... although I certainly can't write anything other than my name and numbers.]
No real instructions here, but opening up the .msi file [or extracting it out from a setup.exe with winrar and then opening it], look around the properties for something like BadOS and a (X) sign that indicates closure and deleting those bits should work.
Of course, before that, BACKUP! So you know.. if it doesn’t work, you haven’t lost the program =P
But anyway, once you get it all edited, just click rebuild and run that .msi. .msi files work fine by themselves and act like .exe files so its alright in a way.
