Of Nintendo DS games that are awesome — Let’s start off with the Simpsons game!

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

To start off, one very quick [re: 24 hours to finish the basics -- at the most =P] game that is oddly amusing — with the sound up, that is, would just have to be the Simpsons game. Yes, that’s ‘the Simpsons Game’, which just came out and thus came with no walkthrough meh. Also good luck searching for it since the Simpsons have had many games.

In fact, in one of the amusing stages in the game, [and rather annoying sections too, since a change in character didn't bring about a checkpoint being reached and I'm pretty sure I've killed off Bart and Homer way too many times as a result.] you can go off and save those 8-bit previous Simpsons; quite like the episodes where you meet the original designs of the Simpsons. [which is revisited in the background].

But anyway, it’s a tag team sidescroller game; where the characters realise that they’re in a videogame rather often; almost a cliche you could say but this is offset by the fact that there’s a section of points to attained called Video Game Cliches.

Homer can turn into a rolling ball that welll.. flattens enemies after he’s eaten enough.

Bart turns into Bartman and he can shoot [pity that he's the only range character], and climb walls and glide and stuff.

Lisa gets a little useless till she gets near a Hand of Buddha where she can move around buildings and… shoot lightning at enemies at some point xD.

Marge, well.. she’s even more useless to the point that she only jumps in the mock of Legends of Zelda. However, at the same time, she can call on a mob of characters to do the fighting for her.

Ah yes, I have to say, one of my favourite bits; other than the ending that is, would be where you have the mock of videogames [Yay, Homer and Lisa can attack Pokemon style with 9999999999 hit robots xD] and then the crossover with Futurama characters as enemies. [Damn they're annoying.]

Well, I might say more later/add some pictures but next up: Final Fantasy 12: Revenant Wings.
Which… I’m only 39% complete at 15 hrs and I feel kind of dead yet it’s still fun though my characters are weaklings but the part strategy part real time part rpg is still addictive so ja ne~

Australian Politics – A Ruddslide, and John Howard gets the boot in more ways than one.

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

What a drop in the latest Australian Federal Election [of which I finally get to vote in :o ], John Howard falls from being second longest lasting Prime Minister of Australia after Sir Robert Menzies, his idol, to becoming the second Prime Minister to have lost his position as Prime Minister by losing his seat in a general election, like that of Stanley Bruce in around the 1930s. =D
Take that, Liberals![who have become the conservative party. How they have fallen.]
A Labor win of 81 House of Representative seats vs. 58 Liberals.
Kevin Rudd is Prime Minister.
That said, a RuddSlide might not be the greatest thing. After all, the focus of the Australian Labor Party campaign has been gaining public favour, and other than the education revolution campaign, there is no sign of what plans will be undertaken, other than the favourable signing of the Kyoto Protocol, and removable of that deplorable WorkChoices.
But we shall see. Whether one likes to or not. Though, after John Howard being around since 1996, damn right a change is necessary.

Now that I can move– *coughs and points to self: loser*

Friday, November 23rd, 2007

Now that I can move again, I’ll just retell the mini road-trip aka getting lost on a 20 minute trip that turned into 1 hour. Oh well, still vaguely funny, and Elva falls asleep on the way. Haha. This would of course, be two days ago, when we decided to head off to Macquarie Centre for some ice skating. And arcade games. You just /can’t/ leave out the arcade games or I just won’t go since its iceskating and I detest iceskating >_> but it was nice to see people again. Oh, and get out of the house. That detail cannot be forgotten.

So anyway, Tina can drive nowadays so we um.. decided to head off in Tina’s car rather than take the train and bus. Going there was fine =D It took 20 mins just like the whereis.com map said xD Can’t say the same for getting back; and so, due to the existence of one-way roads, clearly, one cannot just do a u-turn. Thank Ellie for map reading =P

But, back to the day — iceskating firstly: bah. Everytime I go reinforces my dislike of iceskating and especially, I hate hate hate the bump in the right corner of the ice rink which is always an awful patch. I suppose I could say the same about my dislike of Parramatta Westfields. I believe the Lunchtime special for iceskating has gone up in price again, and skate hire shoes look worse and worse. Think it’s time to check out that Blacktown ice rink.

Lunch time… well it was oddly amusing to see Elva and Eleanor taking a million and one minutes to decide whether or not they would buy an overpriced chocolate puff and then finally trying to split it between them [not happening. hahaha. In the end, one of them had to eat half of it and all the cream was oozing out and it reeeally didn't seem worth it haha]

Then we went to the arcade which was much more fun. Well, Tina and I did. Ellie and Elva were sitting on a bench waiting :/
Started off with a few games of DDR, which I haven’t played for ages. Yes, I am aware that I have a DDR mat, but no way could I be bothered enough to set it up after my desktop got formatted ages ago weep Thankfully, I had my tablet pc by then ^^ We played a motorbike game – seems like this machine is still broken, and it appears they have a new shooting game which was why Dance Dance Revolution got moved over to a corner.
Decided to play it and another one which had a machine gun.

After that, we left for a movie sooo mini review time~~
Well, kind of. Yet again, and that day must have been quite the day for getting lost, we thought Rogue was actually the Rogue Assassin which was what we wanted to watch, but in the end we actually ended up in a screening of Blackwater: Rogue; which is an Australian movie about a killer crocodile and an American tourist killing it _
A B-grade movie at best, I would rather have watched December Boys with Daniel Radcliffe in it [rofl @ Snark and the various threads on him] except…. the only place showing that is over at Greater Union Newcastle which I’ve heard from Mandy that its rather dodgy. Oh and of course, Newcastle is what…. 2 hours by train away? Mehh.

So the movie draws its action from suspense and horror from real life. Wasn’t quite the type of action film we were looking for.
Stars the guy from Alias.
Gruesome level only happens in the second half of the film with the poor doggie T_T.
Die die die. Meh. The film wasn’t all that great.

To summarise the day:
Summary of the day

OH and tomorrow I get to vote in the Federal election for the first time. Yay.
