Modems
Quick Summary of the Internet
Hopefully, this helps other people doing computer studies, or even people doing physics (or I’ve so heard, apparently, it’s rather useful for that topic somewhere too… well from what I’ve heard from the old senior peeps at my school! =P).
- Receiving computer is known as the client
- The host computer is known as the server
- It is a global network with many networks of computers connected to it - mainly through home servers, and datacenters (the main location of servers).
- Works on modulation and demodulation through the use of modems
- Transmits from analog to digital (telephone line modems aka. Up to 56K or ISDN’s 128K) and then back again
- Modem acts as a converter of the electrical signal from (D/A to A/D) if uploading (or if the client computer is requesting data from the server), and from (A/D to D/A) if downloading.
Useful links
All these links are from howstuffworks.com… rather brief, but all this was just information I gathered for a little topic question a month ago for CPS (computer studies, if you did not know
)

How High Speed Dial Up Modems work (though in my opinion, it’s rather bad because although they speed things up, you just HAVE to say that the results are…bad quality to say the LEAST)

DNS <3 <3 My domain needs to propagate to a DNS, did you know? (This is about the server side of things where the DOMAIN is in concern. Not the HOSTING though.)

The most simple of all stuff - how the modem works! Was the typical stuff that I learnt in class…but hey, you probably don’t have access to my notes

The web server - the place where all information is actually located. You could even call the domain a redirect X_x as much as I hate to compare my lovely wuv’ ly domain to an ugly looking cjb.net with all those ads!
And that’s about it,
I hope this helped ya!
